If you were to ask me what category I would put this one into I would have to say that it is an investigation game with RPG and dating sim elements thrown in. You might be wondering why I include ‘dating sim’ in my list but my reasoning will become more clear as you read the review.
The short story is Lux Pain is an adventure game where you scratch the bottom Amazon has a listing for Lux Pain with Rising Star as the publisher. I’ve never played a dating simulation or any kind of game where you only.
By reading this first sentence, you admit one thing about yourself: you must be interested in video games. Otherwise, why would you be reading a review for a little-known Nintendo DS game? By admitting you are interested in games, you also admit that you’ve probably played your fair share. We, as gamers, all know the heights of joy that come with playing a great game, and the pits of despair delved when firing up a horrible one see the latest GameFly commercial for a hilarious look at the aftereffects of playing a bad one.
Those two polar emotions are what make reviewing Lux Pain so difficult. After playing all the way through this bizarre, barely localized Japanese point-and-click text adventure, I have absolutely no idea whether what I had just played was a masterpiece, a cruel joke, a train wreck, a compelling story or some mix of all those things. Lux Pain is, without a doubt, one of the weirdest games I’ve ever had the pleasure or displeasure? If that sounds interesting, read on; I’ll do my damnedest to bring you up to speed and offer an opinion on what was the gaming equivalent to spending a weekend in the spaced-out shoes of Hunter S.

Atsuki has been assigned to Kisaragi City hilariously located in America to search for the originator of a mind parasite called Silent, which embeds itself into the shinen of other people and hijacks their minds. In other words; braindead! Actually, the entire reason Atsuki can read minds is due to a ring he wears called a Lux Pain which grants him the specific power of reading shinen. Other members of the Fort, like Liu Yee and Natsuki, posses these Lux Pain which are all in the forms of different jewelry, I assume but have obtained different types of shinen-related powers.

When it was first announced, Lux-Pain seemed like a low-key DS adventurous with a few quirky gameplay features. However, Marvelous Entertainment have created quite an elaborate marketing campaign for the title, providing an art book, some radio broadcasts, a vocal single, and, soon, a soundtrack CD. Hosts Eri Kitamura and Naoki Koshida offer enthusiastic performances and seem to have warm chemistry, though their actual conversations will be lost on non-Japanese speakers.
The occasional accompanying background music fits nicely and offers an insight into a few other tracks, though they all seem unremarkable. Overall, the radio broadcast is a nice touch to this bonus CD, although even most Japanese speakers will probably not want to hear it all. Kenji Ito seems to be almost completely on auto-pilot producing some of his most mind-numbing material in years.

The game was released in Japan on March 27, This game is mostly a visual novel, but there are a few new techniques specific for the DS. When using Lux-Pain, the player ‘digs’ into their surroundings using the stylus and touch screen. The player can also ‘dig’ into people’s feelings and emotions to find worms, or deep emotions. However, if the player digs in too long and is unable to erase the worms that surround the person, the person’s mind becomes corrupt and it becomes game over for the player.
The game also ends if you lose a battle against one of the Silent. However, in some cases, if you lose against a Silent mainly in boss battles you are able to retry. Luxanna—or Lux, as she prefers to be called—grew up in the Demacian city of High Silvermere, along with her older brother Garen. They were born to the prestigious Crownguard family, which had served for generations as protectors of the kings of Demacia. User Info: IllusionPanda. Top Voted Answer. I think it has to do with how the other people relate to you. The higher their heart level, the more comfortable they are around you, which means they open up to you more. Furthermore, the more positive a relationship you have with people, the better chance of receiving their QT card for your phone.
